As I am Irish I am no stranger to the cold weather. Perth’s winter somewhat resembles an Irish Summer in some respects. I am a little surprised as to how chilly I have found the Perth winter though, especially first thing in the morning and in the evening when the sunsets. I thought years of freezing Irish winters would have prepared me. There hasn’t been any need to de-ice the car in the morning however or put a hot water bottle on my lap as I drive to work.  In comparison, a Perth winter is just perfect and I am still refusing, out of principal of living in a hot country, to buy black tights. Summer is on the way so my white legs will just have to bare the cold for another few weeks.

I decided to embrace the outerwear prompt as an opportunity to purchase a winter coat that I could wrap around me in the morning and evening. I found this beautiful purple wool coat in Save The Children for $10 similar here. It matches perfectly with this gorgeous paint splash dress I bought in Primark / Penneys while I was at home in Ireland recently similar here. I fell in love with colours and know I will get a substantial amount of wear out of it. My red felt hat is from Miss Brown Vintage in Perth similar here. I love this shop and highly recommend visiting for amazing vintage pieces. My fashion-code clutch is from shopping mecca Zara. I featured the white version in yesterday’s pastel restyle post here. I love the cool graphic barcode detail and slogan ‘fashion code’, I think it works well with the overall outerwear aesthetic.

Dana Weeks and I photographed this look in Perth city. Dana has been amazing with location suggestions and I can’t thank her enough for helping me make my restyle 2014 journey for the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival a reality.
