I thought it was time I share a bit about myself, my daily life when I am not on social media or blogging, what makes me happy, what motivates me, everything that makes me who I am, that you might not normally see here. Two years ago I started this blog and as it has grown I’ve grown with it.

I have learned so much about blogging, social media, and life in general from this online space and from moving abroad. Blogging and travelling have given me the opportunity to meet wonderful, creative and inspiring people. I have attended workshops, seminars, online courses,  blogger catch up’s and numerous events to further my knowledge in this industry and meet people.

At the end of the day it is your comments, e-mails, likes that make me smile and motivate me to keep going and learning more so that I create better content here for you. I hope you have enjoyed the content I share and will enjoy what I have planned for the future of this website.

If you are new or a follower since the beginning you might like to know a little bit more personal information about me. Which I don’t often share as my content is very focused on different events and fashion stories.

I originally started this blog to share my love of fashion, my knowledge of the industry, style tips, travel, where I shop, eat and different things that happen along the way. Also, I use this space as a creative outlet and portfolio of my work. If you would like to read more about my background in fashion, you can do so here.

Fashion is the heartbeat of this blog and my life. Growing up I was surrounded by fabric, clothes and developed my creative flair for designing from my mother, a dressmaker. As a child I knew I was going to work in the fashion industry, I am very tactile person and just from touching a fabric can imagine it realised as a garment and how it will sit and move on the body. When people asked me ‘why I wanted to be a fashion designer’, the answer has always been the same. It chose me, I never had that what will I do with when I grow up, I had a clear definition of where I was headed. Well, until I finished college and then due to the recession my career went slightly off the path as I developed a love for the world of digital and decided to travel abroad.

I am a fashion designer by profession and I do hope to design a collection for retail and catwalk in the coming year and have already put some wheels in motion so watch this space. My first love has always been fashion design and I really believe that is where my true talents lie. The proudest day of my life was telling my dad I received a first class honours degree in fashion design and the second was seeing my designs featured on the front cover of the Irish Times magazine.

My personal style is uber feminine and I love to wear dresses and do pretty much every day of the week. My style evokes a timeless elegance combined with nostalgic, romantic feminity which is further emphasised by my love for whimsical colour, designer pieces and classic femininity. I love impeccable style and getting dressed up, I often arrive fashionably late to events as I can be indecisive and change ten times to makes sure I am wearing the perfect outfit. I no longer shop the latest trends, but key pieces from trends that I use to maximise my wardrobe and make it work for me.

Today I work full time in PR and Communications, which is a big change from my previous roles, but a great opportunity came my way so I took it with open arms. Since, I have developed a whole new skill set and work with incredibly amazing people that inspire me every day.

My day job is very demanding and unfortunately, means I don’t get to spend as much time as I would like working on this blog. But even when I am not shooting, writing, planning collaboration’s this blog consumes my thoughts and where my heart lies and I really want it to my full-time career. I feel I have so much to share with you and hopefully soon that can become a reality. Don’t get me wrong, I love working, I excel in a demanding work environments and I am a very social person so I love the structure, interaction and life skills that come with a job. But, if I am honest I really want to work for myself full-time and live the life I dream of. So all that said, I hope to combine this space to capture my love for the world of blogging and design.

When I don’t have my eyes glued to a computer in work, or on my phone trawling through social media my favourite way to relax and unwind is to go for a walk on the beach after work and watch the sunset. I find it invigorating, relaxing, helps me work through my thoughts and wash away any negative issue I am having.

On a more personal note, I recently turned 31, I know you’re shocked, so is everyone else I tell. Thankfully I am blessed that I look younger and I don’t act or dress for my age either. I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing, anyway I digress. I recently found out I need glasses! Don’t get me wrong I love glasses and I am now looking forward to rocking a killer pair but I found out the same time as my birthday and it really hit me that I am getting older and my body isn’t as responsive as it once was, truth be told I am still coming to terms with the fact I see life in soft focus these days.

In the future I would love to travel more, my dream is to drive around Australia so that I get to see everything this beautiful country has to offer. I recently went to Shark Bay and had the best road trip of my life, it really opened my eyes, to a world of adventure that lies beyond the horizon.

After working hard all week, the weekends are my favourite time, epically lazy Sunday mornings. It’s really the only quality time I get to spend with my partner, and we love to sit around the house then finally go for brunch. I generally spend the weekend’s working in my office on this website, creating new content, shooting, e-mailing, location scouting, working on collaborations and planning my schedule.

I think that’s enough about me for now, I would LOVE to hear all about YOU, what you love, hate, what food you like. What are your hobbies, what do you worry about, where do you like to shop, after all without you this blog is nothing and it would help be great to provide better content that you would like to see. To make things easy, I have created the short and sweet survey for you to fill out here. Or if you like you can send me some feedback at my e-mail address demelza@demelzabuckley.com.

Looking forward to learning all about you. Please click here to take my survey.

Love your post and those are some gorgeous photos. Disconnecting from social media every day for a bit is one of my ways to wind down, that’s something I do each week, take time with my son and we get out with no technology, just in nature.

cannot wait to be able to walk into a shop and buy your designs, I am sure it’ll will be a reality soon enough with the amount of dedication you have to your work. I love posts like this as you get to know the person you are reading a little more intimately and they don’t just feel like a computer page feels more like getting to know a real person.
