Today is the first day of August and the first day of Restyle 2014. I can hardly believe it! What an exciting month ahead of showing off my amazing opshop finds from Save The Children. Restyle is such an amazing opportunity for me and I still cannot believe I was chosen as an official Restyle blogger for Telstra Perth Fashion Festival in connection with Lottery West. It has been such a lovely experience getting to know all the other Restyle bloggers and my chosen charity Save The Children where I have been exclusively Opshopping. If you would like to find out more about Restyle check out my blogpost here that explains in detail how Restyle works and you too can get involved.
I have spent the past few weeks frantically opshopping and shooting restyle outfits for the daily prompt list. Since the prompt list was released a few weeks ago, I have been excitedly looking at each prompt and trying to decide how to style my daily looks. I have put together some beautiful Pinterest boards for you. These may help give you some style inspiration for the daily prompts.
Todays prompt is Glitter. I know there is a lot of people out there that shy away from wearing glitter but I am a total magpie so I was thrilled to see this prompt first on the list. In fact my first ever blogpost was actually on how to wear summer sequins which you can read here. At first I was thinking it was going to be really hard to find something from an opshop that fitted and that satisfied my sparkly nature. However I was delighted when I stumbled upon this amazing matt sequins playsuit a little crumpled up and missing a few sequins but with a little love and care I brought it back to life. Perfect for my first style prompt.
I shot this look with in a rustic timber filled shed when I was at home in Ireland recently. I love how the cut timber adds a totally different look to this outfit. The timber itself is beautiful the way it is stacked high, some logs have a circular shape others sharp and jagged.
As I mentioned before I am opshopping solely from Save The Children and I couldn’t be happier to have been paired with this fantastic organisation. Yesterday I met up with Andrea from Save The Children and she has so much to tell me about the charity and the opshops. There are ten Save The Children opshops and I recommend going to visit them. They stock a fantastic collection of bric-a-brac to designer goods to retro finds. Every shop is run by volunteers so that the money raised from the opshops goes directly towards helping save children. This global organisation not only focuses on war torn areas such as Syria and Africa but also helps children right here in WA.
I hope through my restyle journey to show you that opshoping is a fantastic way to add unique pieces to your current wardrobe while also helping to save children. Please remember to get involved in Restyle by using the hashtag #restyle2014 when you post a look on social media.
