I have been very excited about today’s Telstra Perth Fashion Festival Restyle prompt ‘Tailored’ since shooting this outfit with Dana in Brookfield Place. My background is in fashion design and for me, the word tailored means bespoke. Perfectly cut garments with a defined structure usually custom made and tapered to fit exactly. However, today’s ‘tailored’ world doesn’t mean suits handmade from Savile Row anymore.Tailored is open for interpretation and incorporates a wider more individualistic approach. Tailoring aesthetics can now be more loose fitting and relaxed such as these palazzo trousers I am wearing from Save The Children similar here. I think these trousers must be between 10- 15 years old but they are back in fashion. These high waist wide leg trousers sport an amazing chiffon outer layer that flows as you walk. I opted to keep the rest of my outfit defined, choosing a structured white shirt and pointed heels caped with a black Topshop blazer. Adding a black neck tie as a nod to feminine tailoring and black hat.
I love the location in which we shot this look as the central business district is where you will find people dressed formally in tailored suits and dresses. Hope you are enjoying Restyle 2014 and please do get involved by hash tagging your look with #restyle2014.Happy Op shopping.
