What To Wear On A Day Trip
Boohoo Dress / Gladiator Sandals / Boater Hat
Two hours drive north, the Pinnacles desert is an ideal day trip location boasting a unique and spectacular landscape within Nambung National Park. Rising mysteriously from the sand dunes are thousands of limestone’s formations. However eerie the formations, they provide a great day trip adventure.
In order to feed my wanderlust, I find day trips are a great alternative way to see places without having to commit to a whole weekend away or eat into annual leave. It is lovely to hop in the car and head out of town and see what lies beyond the city walls. The Pinnacles is a great day trip to take with friends, partners or family and kids will love it. The journey is not too long and there is always the option of stopping off in Cervantes and Lancelin.
When you arrive, you can drive through the Pinnacles desert loop or walk a 4km unsealed loop. We opted to drive as the loop is suitable for normal cars and stopped along the path to further examine the amazing limestone structures that punctuate the desert landscape. Marked car bays along the way enable you to park and walk through. The interpretive visitor centre offers a comprehensive collection of informative imagery and illustrations that explains the history of the formations and the wildlife and insects that inhabit the Pinnacles desert.
Knowing what to wear on a day trip can be tricky, I like to opt for something that is comfortable for the car journey but also appropriate to the location for photographs. As I was driving I decided to wear flat sandals (I wish I could drive in heels) and a comfortable off-duty casual day dress I recently bought from Boohoo. Basic dresses in bright colours are always a winner.
Channeling my inner warrior I chose a strappy bohemian style gladiator sandal to compliment my desert adventure look. Whether you’re a lover of a fighter, the strappy gladiator sandal has had a strong hold on the fashion scene for quite some time now and does not seem to be going anywhere fast, I highly recommend investing in a pair for the coming season.
Finally, I accessorised with my uniform boater hat from H&M but I love this one available from Free People. I have worn this hat with everything and it is great to keep the sun off your face when you are out exploring.
Do you have any road trip adventure suggestions? I would love to hear them. I have plenty more travel adventures to come including my amazing trip to Shark Bay which I cannot wait to share with you.
