Make Time Count
”The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time” Jord
TIME, those four letters combined represent one of life’s most precious commodities. We are each given an unknown amount of days, minutes, hours in life and what we choose to do with that time is our own. The older I get the more I value time. Mostly I feel time moving too quickly and I just want to hit pause. When I reflect on my life, even though it has been filled with high’s and low’s, great friends a loving family and wonderful partner I often find myself saying, I wish I had more time. The designers at Jord Wood Watches understand the significance of time and have created beautiful timeless pieces to capture time for today’s modern lifestyle.
Contemporary and functional design has become a signature thread running through this blog, so when Wood Watches by Jord contacted me I was intrigued. A watch made of wood? I thought this sounds very interesting and when I went through to view their beautiful handcrafted watch collection to say I was impressed would be an understatement.
Wood Watches is a relatively new brand, but they are already making waves with their uniques handcrafted watch collection. Specialising in women’s and men’s watches created in specifically sourced different types of wood, that ranges from Bamboo, Sandalwood, Purpleheart, Maplewood and Zebrawood.
Developed by artists, designers, marketers and minders Wood Watches have carefully considered each element of the watches placing value on sustainability, efficiency, and experiential living.
After much deliberation (I wanted them all), I finally decided on the Cora series watch, beautifully executed in Koa wood with a rose gold face featuring Swarovski crystal markers as I love a little sparkle in my life. Koa wood is native to Hawaii, and when crafted features an exposed grain in a golden brown tone. The rose gold faces compliments the natural Koa wood perfectly and a carefully considered design elements exposes the self-winding automatic mechanical component.
Kraig chose the tailor made Dover series watch constructed from Darkwood and Dark Sandalwood with an innovative synchronized style. For me, the key feature in this watch is the complex hardware detailing that incorporates the self-winding automatic mechanism. Rustic yet purposeful this watch encompasses calculated design that personifies masculinity and a modern contemporary lifestyle.
Both watches are accessed through a metal deployment buckle with push button. Sapphire crystal glass cases the watch face and is synonymous in the luxury watch world as the definitive material for transparency and durability as it is one of the most scratch resistant materials on earth.
We shot this his and her’s look late one afternoon as the sun was setting down at the marina. My partner Kraig is usually the one behind the lens shooting looks for me so it was great to turn the camera around and get some pictures of him for a change and most of all it was lovely to spend some quality time together and watch the sun go down.
Carefully considered design, craftsmanship and lifestyle are represented in Wood Watches making time count and what better symbol to use as a reminder of how precious time is…use it wisely.
