Personal Post | Life Update
I revealed some exciting news in part one of my life update, if you missed it you can check it out here.
Working out has been part of my weekly routine for as long as I can remember but my weight had plateaued due to my poor eating habits.
I decided it was time for change, so I joined Hypoxi (more on this to come) and committed to cleaning up my diet. I kissed goodbye to sugar and EVERYTHING else I love to eat….chocolate, biscuits, gooey salted caramel donuts, cakes and bread. I embarked on a clean eating diet, primarily focused on high portions of protein, low in carbohydrate and in just 5 weeks I managed to lose a staggering 5.5kg’s and 47cm.
My mood and energy levels were at an all-time high and all the effort was worth it when I fit into something that was once pinched and hugged in the wrong places. It was all or nothing, I set myself a goal of losing 5.5kg before my trip home to Ireland and on the day I flew out I hit my target weight. Sheer determination, will power, the unwavering support from my Hypoxi and fitness coaches helped me achieve these amazing results. It was only once I lost the weight that I could see how much I had achieved and then the fear of trying to maintain my weighloss set in. In an effort to stay on track I joined a bootcamp class in Ireland and I lost a further 2kg’s. Unfortunately, my clean eating habits were pretty much impossible to sustain while I was away. My alcohol intake went up, I enjoyed real creamy dairy milk chocolate but where possible kept to the basics of a high protein low carbohydate diet.
I have since let myself slip back into my old ways but with summer on the way and a wedding dress to fit into and above all the knowledge in my ability to lose weight I will be back on track in a matter of time.
It’s true what they say, there really is no place like home! After two years living in Australia myself and Kraig travelled back to Ireland to see our family and friends with the exciting news of our recent engagement (which you can read about here). I don’t think I slept in the week leading up to going home, for me it was a mixture of anxiety and excitement as it had been a long time since I had been back. Before leaving I worried about silly things, but once I saw my family and friends those fears disappeared. It was like I had never left and I slotted back into life at home and loved every single minute. I smile every time I think of the fun I had with my friends, I laughed so much my tummy and face hurt. It had been way too long since I laughed so much. I really am one lucky girl to have these amazing people in my life.
Creative – Direction / Styling
If you follow me on snapchat you might have seen that I recently worked as creative director for a fashion shoot. I had forgotten the immense joy I got from working on editorial shoots. I love the whole creative process from developing a concept, mood and story boards to selecting designers, sourcing props and shooting. As a creative person, I’m constantly thinking of ways to create something beautiful and inspiring. In Ireland, I worked in retail and regularly used my creativity as a visual merchandiser, stylist, and presenter. It was really exciting to see my vision become a reality. My love for styling and pulling the overall look together ignited my soul and I am looking forward to stepping back into this creative field more in the coming months.
Time stops for me when I have a camera in my hand just as a photograph captures a moment frozen in time. My penchant for photography has grown ever since my first year in art college when I learnt how to use my mum’s manual Nikon camera. Back then I even developed images from film in a darkroom. I believe my love of photography stems from my mum an avid photographer, as a child she would always capture beautiful images of us growing up.
Today I channel my love for photography by dreaming up shoot ideas and locations for this blog. It can be taking pictures of anything from scenic locations, products, runway shows, food, to events. I especially love product styling and want to really push my skills in this area more for professional services in the future.
I think that about covers everything I have been up to and all my exciting news for now. As always I would love to hear more about you and what you have been up to lately come say hi over on my social media channels below.
